Are you happy with the way you look and feel about yourself? Are you sick of diets that don’t work, or feeling like you have to live at a gym to see any results? With our over-worked and hectic lifestyles, combined with an increasing susceptibility to physical ailments, our personal health is being postponed, as we attempt to ignore the fact that we are causing ourselves serious harm. We are impatient for noticeable improvements, and simply give up when health changes we make don’t give the results we desire. We think that the effort required will be too difficult and time-consuming, or that we are too unhealthy or too late to take action. The truth is that it is never too late, and it is definitely possible and easier than thought.

Imagine that you have just bought yourself a brand new, expensive car – your dream machine. Would you wash and vacuum it each week and make sure it was serviced as often as needed? Would you only fill it with the best fuel, and treat it with the utmost care? Would you drive it around to keep all parts in peak working order? Of course you would! Such an investment deserves the best treatment. Now think about this – how much is your body worth? Do you take the best possible care of your body, or are you guilty of feeding it cheap fuel?
Do you move your body to keep your parts conditioned and functional? Unlike a vehicle, the human body is able to repair itself. We are priceless, and should treat ourselves accordingly. |
We each have different goals in mind for our bodies; some individuals want to build and tone muscle, while others want to predominantly lose excess body fat. Losing weight is not as hard as every body makes out - you just have to know how to do it and ultimately want to do it. Excuses and reasons for not being healthier will always pop up, but there is no excuse for not finding the time and making personal health and fitness a priority. Being highly experienced in the health and fitness industry, whether it be in the areas of training, coaching or consulting, I have heard, and continually hear, excuses to die for. It simply can’t be put any other way. When we build a better body and develop stronger muscles, we are building a stronger mind, and that is a goal in itself. Having the willpower and mental drive to achieve and maintain is the hardest aspect of leading a healthy lifestyle, but the rewards that come far out-weigh the efforts invested. It has been proven that a correct nutritional plan, coupled with an exercise program, forms a highly potent combination, but it’s widely believed that consuming three square meals daily, consisting primarily of carbohydrates, is sufficient for weight loss. |

In actual fact, eating smaller portion sizes more frequently is the most effective way of aiding the body’s ability to burn energy. This means 5-6 small meals, 2.5-3 hours apart. In terms of the quality of food, the concept of tapering carbohydrate intake throughout the day whilst increasing protein intake is new to many, yet highly effective and proven throughout the fitness industry. Basically, meals should consist of carbohydrates, proteins and essential fats, while the last meal should be protein-based, as there isn’t enough time for the body to burn carbohydrate-dense energy before sleep. Water is absolutely vital for successful support of body transformation, so it is necessary to aim to drink at least two litres daily. Eat more often, eat more protein, drink more water…it’s that simple. It can be difficult to prepare so many meals in advance, which is precisely why protein drinks and bars were formulated. It is a myth that these supplements are only meant for body builders – everybody should use supplements, because it is almost impossible to obtain the essential nutrients we require from foods alone. They are there to support health programs, with extremely large ranges available to suit individual tastes and needs. Multivitamins and other formulated mineral resources are also a fundamental feature of any type of health and fitness program, offering nutrients to add to and support those obtained from foods. Did you know that there has always been a cure for diabetes, high blood pressure and depression, and it’s not a drug? That cure, my friends, is a healthy lifestyle. Good food, frequent exercise, fun and laughter. And don’t be afraid to check on how you are fairing. Trained and qualified health and fitness experts like myself are here to measure your progress for you, and consequently recommend nutritional and exercise alternatives to enhance your body changing capabilities. Wake up today and consider your health – all it takes is a decision by you. Antony Romeo |
